Kayak Training

Instruction is given  by Lynn Higbee and/or Gary Hakala (Aqua Adventures employee). Training is geared to individual needs.   Class size is limited to 6 people per training.   Classes are set up to be informative yet fun at the same time.   It is recommended that you use your own kayak for classes.  Club kayaks are available for classes if necessary.  Let Lynn (safety training administrator)  know if you have a kayak or need to rent one for classes.





 

PADDLING BASICS
- Learn how to adjust the kayak to fit your body.
- Learn how to properly get in and out of your kayak.
- Learn basic paddling skills.
- Obtain great tips and advice about a variety of topics related to kayaking.

SAFETY TRAINING (rescue training)
- Learn how to perform a self rescue.
- Learn how to perform an assisted rescue
- once where you rescue someone and once in which you get rescued
On safety training you will get wet.  Feel free to wear a swim suit or a wet suit if you desire.  Lake Hemet Safety Training certification cards are issued through Aqua Adventures.

You must be able to perform both a self rescue and an assisted rescue in order to obtain a Lake Hemet Safety Card.  Go to Lake Info for more information regarding Lake Hemet.

Cost:
Paddling Basics is $20 per person (same price for members and non-members). 
Safety Training is $30 for members (yearly membership is $24) and $50 for non-members. 
- The $30 for safety training also covers the cost of obtaining Lake Hemet card from Aqua Adventures.

Cash is preferred.

 

Location:
Most trainings are held at Sail Cove at Lake Perris.   Occasionally training is available at a swimming pool.

Time:
Register and complete paperwork and get ready at 9:30 am.  Class starts at 10:00 am

Dates:
Sunday June 6th (Safety Training, in a swimming pool)
July 11 (Paddling Basics, Lake Perris)
Aug. 15(Paddling Basics and Safety Training)
More training dates will be added.  We try to offer at least one  training date a month.  Contact Lynn for more training  dates.
